Belonged to Clarence "Skee" Cunningham, a retired U.S. Army colonel, government and university administrator, He was born in 1933. Graduated from Southern University and A&M College in 1956 with a commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. During an outstanding 23-year career in the U.S. Army, he attained the rank of colonel and served with distinction in two tours of duty in Vietnam, three years at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., attended the prestigious U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa., and spent his last tour of duty in Seoul, Korea, as chief planning officer. He retired in 1979.

He was highly decorated with honors including: a Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Award and the Army Commendation Medal. In addition, he received the Louisiana National Guard's Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. 

Following his retirement, he entered into civil service, working with the Louisiana Public Service Commission and the Louisiana Department of Urban and Community Affairs. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 73.
